Bob Ellis

1903 Robert Edmund Ellis was born in St. Albans, Vermont
1927 Learned to fly as a naval reservist
1929 Became a commercial pilot and worked briefly for Alaska Washington Airways. Flew as navigator on the first non-stop flight between Seattle and Juneau.
1936 Ellis Air Transport established
1941 Recalled to Active Duty and served in Alaska during the war
1946 Returns to building Ellis Air, primarily using the dependable Grumman Goose
1946-48 Serves as Mayor of Ketchikan
1955-59 Serves in the Territorial Senate
1962 Ellis Air joins forces with Juneau based Alaska Costal Airlines
1968 Ellis Air merges with Alaska Airlines and Bob Ellis serves on the Board of Directors
